Since 1995 VGF has been awarding an annual Young Producers’ Prize for the best film by a young film producer. The award is conferred on the occasion of the award of the Bavarian Film Prize. An independent body assesses the German cinema films that are submitted with reference to the criteria of outstanding quality and recognisable public relevance.
The prize carries a value of 60,000 euros, making it the most highly endowed prize for young film producers in Germany. The prize money comes without ties, and serves to boost the capital resources of young production firms.
